Iris and Hermes is a clothing store by and for interpreters for the Deaf. I’ve been an interpreter for over 10 years, and I know how frustrating and time consuming shopping can be. It doesn’t have to be that way any more – you have a team now!
I’m doing the hard part for you now. I’m your team interpreter, doing all of the prep for your shopping. I’m sourcing items that I would be proud to wear in the various settings where I and my colleagues work; that includes K-12, Medical, Business, Legal, Human Services, Social Events, Platform, and more. Sizes run standard to plus/curve size, colors to contrast with light and dark skin tones.
If you’re wondering why I haven’t disclosed exactly who I am, it’s because I’m an interpreter coordinator. I take the CPC seriously and I want to avoid real or perceived conflicts of interest (interpreters who I coordinate feeling that they should buy something from Iris and Hermes to get or stay on the schedule). It will eventually come out, I’m sure, but I’ll keep these two worlds separate for as long as I can and I appreciate your understanding.
